Meet Dr. Sello

Sello E. Moyo is an educational assessment specialist. He currently serves as a lecturer of Research and Evaluation at the University of Botswana. He holds a PhD in Assessment and Quality Assurance in Education and Training from the University of Pretoria and a Master of Education in Research and Evaluation from the University of Botswana.

 

He has over a decade of working experience in different portfolios as a teacher, lecturer, researcher, learning programmes developer, consultant, assessor, and moderator at both basic and higher education. His research interest is embedded within three major themes: (i) developing assessment practices within the context of schools to enhance student’s learning growth, teacher effectiveness and impact on the general public  (ii) the refinement and application of Modern theories (Item Respond Theory) in the development of the assessment (item development) and survey instruments for learning practices; (iii) how school assessment data can be used by teachers and school local communities to improve student learning outcomes and achievement in culturally diverse, rural, and low-income children settings, while embedding an adaptability approach into their practices. His work draws insights from UNICEF’s Data Must Speak fieldwork, in which he has facilitated as a local consultant in Botswana.

 

He is a Member of the Botswana Educational Research Association. He is a board Member for both Pabalelo Trust and Bosa Bosele Training Institute.
